We have started to develop a programme of environmental education based on the investigation of the natural condition.
This project is supported by Hiroshima University; especially professor Nakane and assistant professor Shoutou help us.
And I.P.A. and C.E.C. are going to support us.
Of course, the aim of this project is that we will know the environmental condition of our planet.
And another important fact is that students over the world---our future---take part in this profect.
We hope many schools all over Japan will take part in this project, which will enable us to know the environmental condition of Japan.
Outline of the project
‚PDWhat is investigated?---- to measure the degree of acidity contained in the rain
‚QDHow to measure it.----- to gather rain in the Raingoround
then, to measure acidty with PH-meter
Raingoround; an instrument for gathering rain at every particular time.
The data is collected through computer network.
‚RDPlaces and measuring instruments:
Places----20 places all over Japan
Measuring instruments-----PH-meter and Rain-go-round are provided by Hiroshima University
‚SDThe term of the project-----September, 1995 - August, 1997
‚TDData-----Data is going to be collected by I.P.A. and C.E.C. and sent back to the participants (schools).
‚UDAnalysis of the rain-----It is difficult for each participant to analyse the rain. Some instruments are necessary.
If each participant can do the following, they can take part in the Analysis process.
‚PDTo freez the rain.
‚QDTo send the frozen rain to professor Nakane at Faculty of Integrated Arts and Science, Hiroshima University.
‚RDThe result is, in turn, sent to the participant through INTERNET.
‚SDExpenses-----Under consideration.
Now we are planning to try other analysis of the rain.
